السنة الثانية للمجمع

إلى أبنائنا وبناتنا الموارنة في لبنان وبلدان الانتشار،

أيّها الأبناء الأحبّاء،

اطّلعنا في حزيران الماضي، في ختام رياضتنا السنويّة مع إخوتنا السادة الأساقفة، على مسيرة تطبيق مجمعنا البطريركيّ، وسررنا للجهد الّذي بُذل في الأبرشيّات والرعايا والرهبانيّات وفي مختلف المؤسّسات التربويّة من مدارس وجامعات ودور تنشئة. وتركّزت الجهود على تقبّل نصوص الملفّ الأوّل ودرسها ولا سيّما أنّها تعالج موضوع هويّة كنيستنا ودعوتها ورسالتها وانتشارها، كما على تقبّل النصوص الّتي تُعالج القضايا الإقتصاديّة والسياسيّة والاجتماعيّة. وجرت محاولات لتطبيق التوصيات والإقتراحات الواردة فيها، وفقًا للروزنامة الّتي وزّعتها أمانة المجمع. وانطلقت ورشات عمل متعدّدة، من وحي التوصيات، لأنّ نجاح المجمع، كما ذكرنا أكثر من مرّة، هو في تطبيقه، لئلا يبقى حبرًا على ورق.  

ونوّد في هذه السنة الثانية من مسيرة التطبيق أن نستحثّ منكم الهمم حتّى تتابعوا ما بدأتموه، وأن تفيدوا من الخبرات والمبادرات الناجحة حتّى نعمل معًا لما فيه خير كنيستنا.

وتركّز روزنامة هذه السنة على الملفّ الثاني الّذي يتناول التجدّد الراعويّ والروحيّ على مستوى الهيكليّات الكنسيّة من بطريركيّة وأبرشيّة ورعيّة، وعلى مستوى الأشخاص: الإكليروس والرهبان والعلمانيّين، وعلى مستوى العائلة والشبيبة.  

ولا يغيب عن بالنا أن التجدّد هدف أساسيّ من أهداف المجمع لأنّ المؤسّسات الكنسيّة تحتاج إلى نهضة حتّى يتناسق أداؤها مع الغايات الّتي أُنشئت من أجلها، وحتّى يزاح عنها ما لا يتلاءم وطبيعتها. إنّما الأهمّ هو تجدّد الأشخاص لأنّهم هم الّذين يديرون هذه المؤسّسات ويشرفون عليها من جهة، ومن جهة ثانية لأنّ الأشخاص، إذا ما أخضعوا ذواتهم وأعمالهم لتوجيهات الروح القدس، يستطيعون أن يعكسوا وجه المسيح ويكونوا له خدّامًا صالحين في بنيان ملكوته. وما أحوجنا اليوم إلى أن نتجنّد جميعنا وفي أيّ موقع كنّا لنكون شهودًا أوفياء لانجيل المسيح ولتعاليم الكنيسة لأنّ السيّد المسيح يتّكل علينا لنكون نور العالم والخميرة الصالحة فيه. ولا يمكن أن نكون نورًا إذا لم نكن متحدّين بالمسيح القائل: أنا نور العالم، أنا الطريق والحقّ والحياة.  

واذا ما انخرطنا جميعًا في ورشة التجدّد هذه، نكتشف هويّتنا الحقّ ونلقي عنّا الخوف ونتقوّى بالرجاء، ونعيش رسالتنا بالرغم مما يحيط بنا من صعوبات.   

لذلك ندعوكم أيّها الأبناء والبنات الأحبّاء إلى التجاوب العميق مع منهجيّة العمل المعتمدة التي توزعها الأمانة العامّة للمجمع. وقد أطلعتنا عليها، ونوَدّ أن نلفت انتباهكم إلى بعض ما ورد فيها تحقيقًا لنجاحها:   

·        إنشاء لجان مجمعيّة على مستوى الأبرشيّة والرهبانيّة والرعيّة لتسهر على مسيرة التطبيق.

·        أهمّيّة دور الكهنة والرهبان والراهبات في درس النصوص والتوصيات وإيصالها إلى المؤمنين.

·        توزيع كتيّبات النصوص على الحركات والمنظّمات الرسوليّة لاعتمادها في برامج اجتماعاتهم.

·    المواكبة الروحيّة وخاصّة بتلاوة صلاة تطبيق المجمع في قدّاس الأحد بعد المناولة شكرًا للربّ على نِعمه والتزامًا بالمسيرة المجمعيّة.

إنّ هذا المجهود الجماعيّ، إذا ما تعمّم في كلّ الأبرشيّات المارونيّة، هنا وفي بلدان الانتشار، يرسّخنا في أصالتنا المارونيّة ويفسح لنا في المجال حتّى ننظر إلى المستقبل بثقة ورجاء، مستشفعين العذراء مريم وقدّيسينا، ومستلهمين ثوابت إيماننا وكنيستنا.   

وإنّنا نتوجّه بنوع خاصّ إلى الشبيبة الّتي هي مستقبل الكنيسة والوطن في آن. وندعوكم أيّها الأحباء إلى ترسيخ إيمانكم والتنبه إلى الدور الّذي يمكنكم أن تقوموا به لإستثمار طاقاتكم في بناء مجتمع سليم متضامن تغلّبون فيه المصلحة العامّة والقيم العائليّة على كلّ المصالح الفئويّة الّتي تفرّق وتشرذم. ولكم في عائلاتكم الموطّدة على المحبّة والخدمة والتفاني خير عضد ومعين لتتجاوزوا الصعوبات الراهنة، وتبنوا لكم مستقبلاً يفتح أمامكم أبواب الأمل والرجاء. إنّ لكم في تاريخكم وتاريخ كنيستكم ما يحملكم على التشبّث بالوطن الّذي بنيناه مع سائر اللبنانيّين، ولمتابعة حمل الرسالة الّتي انتدبنا لها الربّ. فلا تستسلموا لليأس ولا تصغوا إلى المنادين بالتخويف والتهميش، لأنّ ذلك يتناقض مع جوهر إيماننا وكيان لبنان. وإنّنا على يقين بأنّ انخراطكم في المؤسّسات والحركات الرعويّة يتيح لكم فرصة التلاقي والعمل معًا من  وحي إيمانكم والتزامكم الكنسيّ والوطنيّ.  

وإنّنا إذ نشكر لكلّ العاملين في ورشة المجمع جهودهم، سواء أكان على صعيد الأمانة العامّة أم في مختلف اللجان، نستمطر عيلكم جميعًا نِعم الربّ وبركاته.

To our children the Maronites of Lebanon and the countries of expansion,

Beloved sons and daughters,

At the end of our annual retreat with our brothers the bishops; we were filled in on the application process of our patriarchal synod, and were satisfied and happy with the efforts employed in all dioceses/eparchies, parishes, religious orders, and all different educational institutions, schools, universities, and formation centers. Those efforts focused on receiving and studying the texts of the first file which tackled the issue of our Maronite Church identity, its mission, and its expansion. The work included also the reception of the texts related to economic, political, and social issues. Many trials to put in practice some of the recommendations and suggestions have taken place following a calendar distributed by the general secretariat. In that respect, and inspired by the recommendations as well, numerous successful initiatives are already functioning; which proves that the success of the Synod, as we often said, lies in its application lest it remains just ink on papers.

In this second year of the strategy, we would like to incite you to pursue what you have started and to benefit from the successful experiences and initiatives in place, so we all work together for the best of our Church.

The calendar of this year includes the second file which deals with spiritual and pastoral renewal at three levels: church structures that is patriarchate, eparchies, and parishes; persons’ lives, to indicate clergy, religious men and women, and laity; and the third level relates to renewal of family and youth. 

Let us remember that renewal figures among the major objectives of our Synod. Church institutions need to renew themselves continuously so their performance could meet the aims they were created for, and so they could free themselves of all that goes against their nature.

Yet more importantly is the renewal of the persons who direct those institutions and oversee their operations, for when submitted to the inspirations of Holy Spirit, they can reflect Christ's face and be His loyal servants who contribute in the up building of His kingdom. Need we not at the present time to work together, each from his/her own position, as faithful witnesses to Christ's gospel and the Church's teachings? Christ our Lord depends on us to be the light of the world and its good yeast. It is impossible to be Christ's light if we were not united to Him who said: "I'm the light of the world; I am the way, the truth, and the life." When we all get involved in this renewal work, we discover our true identity, we overcome all fear, and we live out our mission strengthened with hope despite all difficulties.

Therefore, we call upon you dear sons and daughters, to interact positively with the work strategy put forward by the general secretariat who has kept us informed of it. We hereupon draw your attention to some of the main points of that strategy:

§        Form synod committees in eparchies, religious orders, and parishes to watch over the application process.

§        Focus on the importance of the role of consecrated people (priests, monks, and sisters) in studying the texts and their recommendations and in delivering them to the faithful.

§        Distribute the text booklets to members of apostolic movements and organizations to include them in their meetings.

§        Provide spiritual follow through by reciting the synod’s prayer in Sunday masses just after Holy Communion in thanksgiving to the Lord for His graces, and in commitment to the synod’s path.

Once spread throughout all Maronite dioceses/eparchies, here and in the countries of expansion, and inspired by the constants of our faith and our Church, this communal effort takes us into the depth and authenticity of our Maronite heritage and allows us to look into the future in hope and confidence through the intercession of the Virgin Marie and our Maronite Saints.

We specifically address you the youth for you are the future of both Church and country; we invite you to deepen your faith and to be attentive to the role you can play when you invest your potentials in building a sane and compassionate society where public interest and family values overcome all partisan interests which could cause differences and discord. You have in your families, who were built on love, service, and sacrifice, a great example and support to help you overcome present time difficulties and build yourselves a future full of hope and ambition. You have in your history and the history of your Church what incites you to remain attached to this country we built with the other Lebanese, and to continue carrying the mission bestowed upon us by the Lord. Surrender not to despair and listen not to those who preach fear and apprehension, for this goes against the essence of our faith and that of Lebanon’s existence. We are rather certain that your involvement in pastoral work, in institutions and apostolic movements, grants you the opportunity to meet and to work together illumined by the light of your faith and your commitment to Christian and national values.

We thank all who have worked for the Synod for their efforts, the secretariat and all related commissions, asking the Lord to bestow His blessings and graces upon them.

A nos fils et filles Maronites au Liban et dans les pays d’expansion,

Chers fils et filles,

Nous avons pris connaissance, au mois de Juin dernier, à l’issue de notre retraite annuelle avec nos frères les évêques, de la mise en œuvre de notre Synode Patriarcal, et avons été satisfait de l’effort déployé dans les diocèses, les paroisses, les ordres religieux et les diverses institutions éducatives: écoles, universités et autres centres de formation. Les efforts se sont concentrés sur l’acceptation et l’étude des textes du premier dossier, surtout que ceux-ci traitent de notre identité, sa vocation, son apostolat et son expansion. Ils se sont aussi concentrés sur la réception des textes d'ordre économique, politique et social. Des tentatives ont eu lieu, pour mettre en application les propositions et les recommandations qu'elles renferment, conformément au calendrier que le Secrétariat du Synode avait communiqué. A la lumière de ces recommandations, il y a eu, çà et là, plus d'un passage à l'action, car le succès du Synode, comme nous l’avons dit plus d’une fois, réside en son application afin qu’il ne reste pas lettre morte.

Nous voudrions, en cette deuxième année de la mise en oeuvre, vous encourager à poursuivre ce que vous avez entrepris et à profiter des expériences et des initiatives réussies dans le but d’œuvrer ensemble pour le bien de notre Église.

Le calendrier de cette année se penche sur le deuxième dossier qui traite du renouveau pastoral et spirituel au niveau des structures ecclésiales: patriarcats, diocèses et paroisses; au niveau des individus: clergé, religieux, religieuses, et laïcs; ainsi qu'au niveau de la famille et de la jeunesse.

N’oublions pas que le renouveau est l’un des objectifs principaux du Synode, car les institutions de l’Église ont besoin d'un renouveau qui leur permette d'être et d'agir en harmonie avec les fins pour lesquelles elles ont été créées, et d'écarter tout ce qui ne serait pas en accord avec leur nature. Cependant, le plus important reste le renouveau des personnes, puisque ces personnes dirigent lesdites institutions et les supervisent; et si elles se soumettent et soumettent leurs actions aux directives de l’Esprit Saint, elles pourront refléter le visage du Christ et Lui être de bons serviteurs dans l’édification de Son Royaume. Combien grand se fait sentir, aujourd’hui, le besoin, de nous engager tous, quelle que soit notre place, pour être de fidèles témoins de l’Évangile du Christ et de l’enseignement de l’Église, vu que le Seigneur compte sur nous pour que nous soyons lumière du monde et bon levain.  Mais il nous est impossible d’être lumière si nous ne restons pas unis au Christ, Lui qui a dit: “Je suis la lumière du monde, Je suis le chemin, la vérité et la vie.”

Si nous nous engageons tous dans cette voie de renouveau, nous découvrirons notre identité véritable, nous nous débarrasserons de toute peur, nous nous fortifierons dans l’espérance et pourrons vivre notre mission quelles que soient les difficultés qui nous entourent.

Pour cette raison, chers fils et filles, nous vous conjurons d'adopter, du plus profond de vous-mêmes, le projet et la méthode de travail proposés par le Secrétariat du Synode.  Nous en avons pris connaissance et voudrions attirer votre attention sur quelques points, en vue de réussir la mise en application:

·        L’établissement de Commissions Synodales aux niveaux des diocèses, des ordres religieux et des paroisses, pour veiller au bon train de la mise en application.

·        L’importance du rôle des prêtres, des religieux et des religieuses dans l’étude des textes et recommandations et leur transmission aux fidèles.

·        La distribution des textes en livrets, aux mouvements et organisations pour qu'ils soient adoptés dans leurs réunions.

·        L’accompagnement spirituel, en particulier la prière pour l’application des recommandations du Synode, durant la messe dominicale, après la communion, en actions de grâces au Seigneur et en guise d’engagement sur la bonne voie.

Si cet effort collectif se généralise dans les diocèses d'ici et de l'expansion, il ne peut que nous ancrer davantage dans notre identité maronite et nous donner à regarder l’avenir avec confiance et dans l'espérance; par l’intercession de la Sainte Vierge et de nos Saints et en nous inspirant des constantes de notre foi et de notre Église.

Nous nous adressons tout particulièrement à la jeunesse en qui se prépare l'avenir de l’Église et de la Patrie.  Nous vous convions paternellement à affermir votre foi et à vous rendre compte du rôle que vous pouvez jouer en cherchant à investir votre potentiel dans l’édification d’une société saine, solidaire, dans laquelle vous vous appliquerez à faire triompher l'intérêt général et les valeurs de la famille sur tout intérêt sectaire, qui sépare et divise. Et vos familles fermement ancrées dans la charité, le service et le dévouement sont pour vous d'un soutien et d'un secours hautement précieux contre les difficultés présentes et pour bâtir un avenir plein d’espoir, plein d’espérance. Vous trouvez dans votre histoire et dans celle de votre Église ce qui vous porte à vous accrocher à la patrie que nous avons bâtie avec nos frères libanais, et à continuer à porter le message dont le Seigneur nous a chargé. Pour toutes ces raisons, ne vous laissez pas fléchir devant le désespoir et ne prêtez pas l’oreille à qui parle d’intimidation et de marginalisation; cela va à l’encontre de la nature de notre foi et de notre Liban. Nous sommes convaincus que votre insertion dans les institutions et les mouvements d'Église, vous donnera l’occasion de vous rencontrer et de travailler ensemble à la lumière de votre foi et de votre engagement chrétien et national.

Nous remercions, pour leurs efforts et leur dévouement, tous ceux qui se sont mis au service du Synode, que ce soit au niveau du Secrétariat ou à celui des différentes Commissions, et nous demandons à Dieu beaucoup de grâces et de bénédictions pour vous tous.
